I’d looked forward to this day for a long time, and I was so excited when August finally arrived. Caitlyn and John did the most amazing job building a day absolutely perfect for them. I loved Caitlyn’s Rifle Paper Company reception shoes & John’s floral tie. Every detail was beautiful and meaningful, from Caitlyn’s heirloom locket tied to her bouquet to the table of loved ones who would be there “If heaven weren’t so far away.” Guests were offered bracelets to communicate their level of COVID comfort, and there was a prayer over the ceremony and reception for safety with all the fun. When the stakes are higher, attendance means more. Caitlyn & John did a wonderful job expressing their appreciation all their family and friends came to celebrate with them.
Beyond all the sweet & pretty details, I’m pretty sure I could have shot Caitlyn & John in their pajamas and still love these pictures just as much; they were the absolute image of joy. They met in high school (my high school!!), so this day was a long time coming – you could read the excitement all over their faces. They weren’t the only ones beaming though. It was sweet to see their parents just as thrilled.
Caitlyn shared the sweetest first look with her dad just before seeing John. They both wiped tears and laughed before hugging each other tight. Some last slow moments before giving her away with Caitlyn’s mom, who was also taking it all in with joy.
John came next to see his bride. They read letters from each other with teary eyes and had a moment of peace & calm before the party started. Caitlyn & John were up for anything (we ended up in the field across from their venue later that night, and only left by threat of cow). They were so much fun and an absolute delight to photograph. I loved their easy laughs and carefree dispositions – you could tell they were just so happy to be together (the secret to a successful wedding day, in my opinion!).
This day was a treasure to be a part of from start to finish. I am so thankful I got to know this couple through being their wedding photographer, and I consider it such a gift. Caitlyn & John, thank you for having me. Your day was a sweet & good dream. I’d do it again with y’all any day. Happy marriage, friends!!! 💛
