Alysse & Grant’s sunset engagement session was my first experience with Mckinney Falls State Park in Austin, and it did not disappoint. Despite it being a dry season, there was still plenty of water to play with and Alysse & Grant were up for anything! The sun set so beautifully over the white rocks, wide open expanse, and greenery. It was truly a peaceful space, and now I’m so ready to go back.
We shot in Austin, but Alysse & Grant are another Aggie couple (whoop!). I didn’t even realize I’ve done a couple of their friend’s weddings until we were chatting through this session. I love what a small world A&M turns out to be.
Getting to know Alysse & Grant during these pictures was so much fun. And I know I’m not the only one who feels that way! Just before switching outfits, Grant commented “I’m not going to lie – this is more fun than I thought it would be!” That’s my favorite thing to hear from guys during a session, who tend to have pretty low expectations for how much fun they’ll have at their session. I’m delighted to be a pleasant surprise.
They were considerate enough to wear masks until shooting, which I feel like was just so thoughtful. They even brought extra cold water bottles for me! I love that they were willing to climb down the rocks and tip toe through slippery footing to get these photos. Seeing their willingness for adventure and love for one another makes me even more excited for their wedding day. They’ll be my first wedding of 2021, and I know it’ll be such a sweet start. Alysse & Grant will get married at the same church where both Alysse’s parents and grandparents married. Talk about a legacy! What a way to start the new year!
