Alysse & Grant got married in a historic, hidden gem of a chapel in Panna Maria, Texas. It was special not only for it’s unique beauty and the peaceful & quiet atmosphere of a tiny town, but also because Alysse’s parents and grandparents were married in the very same spot.
This was a first for me – shooting a wedding where the venue carried so much familial significance. I photographed the stained glass window their grandparents donated and their sweet ceremony in the same spot generations before had made the same commitment. I love when family is honored and incorporated in making the wedding day special, so I was so excited to learn Alysse & Grant were carrying on this tradition.
We were blessed with sunshine and moderate temperatures, a true winter Texas wedding day! Their blue & green colors complemented our golden light while tying in the coolness of the season. Alysse and the ladies got ready in a bed & breakfast across from the church, and shared a prayer in the attached chapel room before heading into the ceremony – one of my favorite shots and moments from the day.
Alysse & Grant shared a first touch around a corner the church, but kept the traditional down the aisle moment. Being the photographer means interacting with both bride & groom before the big reveal, and I love noticing their energies. In this case, both Alysse & Grant were all serenity and joy. They were ready when I was for everything (impressive!), and not stressed in the least. They had a big group of friends in the bridal party, and I could see they were just having so much fun together.
While the first half of the day was full of fun, reverence, and starting a marriage, the reception was just as exciting and meaningful. Blessings, toasts, so many special traditions, eating, drinking, and dancing. The newlyweds’ brought the party and it was one of the best crowds I’d seen on the dancefloor! The day was full of special, thoughtful moments and left everyone on a high from being a part of something so good to celebrate – at least that’s how I felt. 😉
Alysse & Grant, thank you for trusting me to capture such a meaningful day. I’ll always be cheering for you.
