With almost thirty people in Mattie and Hayden’s bridal party and families who went above and beyond to make this wedding day happen from scratch, I could tell long before the day-of that this would be a day to remember.
Mattie and I got to know each other well for the first time when we were both in the wedding party of a mutual friend (who also happens to be an amazing photographer in Austin, but was busy this wedding fulfilling the whole best friend role 😉). I knew I liked spending time with Mattie already, and I knew she and Hayden were an awesome couple from being at A&M at the same time. Their wedding was sure to be a party, so I was over the moon to book their date.
Spoiler alert: the day and their people didn’t disappoint. Mattie’s mom, aunt, & Mimi were all present at her bridals participating to the extent of a brief kick line performance to make Mattie laugh (amazing). I arrived at Mattie’s family lake house the morning of their wedding to begin shooting details and the girl gang getting ready. Greeted with all smiles, the fun ladies I’d met at bridals, and a very chill, very excited, very beautiful bride, the day was off to a great start.
Transitioning from lake house to ranch was what I was most looking forward to though. I’d talked with Mattie, her mom, and their awesome planner, Amy, to hammer out all the details, but it was hard to conceptualize exactly how everything would play out before seeing it.
There are a million things the venue typically takes care of for you that most couples might not even realize, but Mattie & Hayden’s crew truly thought of everything, despite taking care of it all by themselves and on a relatively quick timeline. During Mattie’s dad’s speech, he made sure to give full credit where it was due: to his wife and the most thoughtful, above and beyond mother of the bride (who pulled this off while planning another family wedding!).
I can’t emphasize enough what a great job all the hard working hands who built this wedding day did, but I can show you how it turned out. Perfect florals decorating the ceremony arch, cut grass and a fresh path paved, the cutest champagne trailer greeting guests on their way down to the ceremony spot, and a band that truly brought the party and possibly the most packed dance floor I’ve ever seen at a wedding.
Their day couldn’t be summarized without mentioning their climactic exit though – a complete surprise to even the bridal party. While guests lined up with sparklers, fireworks shot off as the (almost) last act of the perfect day. Mattie & Hayden then ran through sparklers and hopped on a helicopter to complete their truly grand exit. It was a once in a lifetime, big & exciting exit, for a couple who is easy to please (which made the surprise perfect and totally unexpected).
Mattie & Hayden, thank you thank you thank you for inviting me into your wedding day celebration. I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of your hype crew. You’re the best people to be around. Happy marriage, Browns!
