Leslie + Ryan at The Milestone

Everything from the bride’s dress to the first dance song was emphatically classic on Leslie & Ryan’s wedding day. The venue and details involved shared a unique cohesiveness, and it all felt made just for May 15th’s newlyweds.

TR Floral provided creamy white flowers to match Leslie & Ryan’s neutral color palette, brought to life with pops of greenery. My favorite bridal detail is Leslie’s green Chanel bottle; not only did it go perfectly with the grey, white, and green scheme, but Leslie also used the same bottle in college when she & Ryan’s first started dating. How special it would have been to tell those two college freshmen she’d wear that perfume on their wedding day. Scent is the sense most associated with memory, so I love when the perfume carries a special meaning and looks beautiful.

The venue speaks for itself. The grand entrance announces something important and beautiful is going on inside, welcoming guests to enter beyond its tall white pillars and join the celebration. The ceremony took place outside under what must have been seventy five degree weather. It felt perfect in more ways than one.

Beyond the venue, the details, and the overall beauty of the day, Leslie & Ryan left the most lasting impression themselves. I loved spending time with them at their engagement session and knew this would be a special day, but it was truly such a joy to participate in. Their family and friends were welcoming and clearly so excited for them. Both sets of Leslie & Ryan’s parents were so gracious, thanking me and my second shooter multiple times for being there and working hard (which genuinely means the world every time I hear it).

As sweet as it is to receive thanks, though, Ryan’s comment to me in pre-ceremony pictures takes the cake; I think I was asking him to laugh and making a joke about how we’d done this at engagement photos when he said “it’s easy to really smile on the wedding day!” You can see in the pictures how special Ryan knows his beautiful bride is, and how much the bride loves her groom back. Their faces are just covered in peace.

Leslie & Ryan, I know I’ve said it a dozen times now – but I’m so thankful to be your wedding photographer. I loved your day and the opportunity to cheer for you. Thank you for choosing me. Happy marriage, Leyels. 🤍
