This sweet couple joined me in the stifling Texas heat for their engagement session that ended with an extra special surprise for the bride to be.

I’ve been planning on Sarina & Sijo’s wedding since their original date in 2020, but because of the distance between them during COVID (and impossibility of international travel), Sijo never had the opportunity to officially propose in person last year. When we could finally put their session on the calendar, I learned about the surprise Sijo had planned for Sarina: he would close out their engagement session on one knee. I was so excited to coordinate with Sarina knowing this was coming at the end.

We honestly couldn’t have picked a hotter June day, but with a party on the line after we finished the session, it was no time to reschedule. I was so impressed with their capacity to smile so genuinely in this heat. I was melting and I wasn’t even snuggling with someone! They were about ready to call it after two outfits, but Sarina’s parents were in on the surprise and set up the proposal area for outfit number three. Of course, I insisted there be an outfit number three for the sake of the proposal coming to fruition.

Sarina came out in her third gorgeous dress and we walked to a spot decorated with rose petals, greenery, and a “Marry me” sign. Sijo got down on one knee and offered Sarina the ring to mark all they’d been planning for the past year. I’m so glad they were able to stand the heat for these special photos; they’ll always have these images to represent this season – I think that’s worth melting for. 🤍

Next stop, their wedding day in July. Shooting an engagement session this close to the date isn’t an opportunity I usually get, so I’m excited for the short proximity. Sarina & Sijo, see you so soon!!!
