“All we needed were prayers for a healthy baby, and we got so much more.” The sweetest expecting parents enjoyed the most dreamy baby shower this past weekend at The Graily, hosted by dad-to-be’s loving aunt and cousin and planned by the incredible Nicolet at Wescott Weddings. Cat and Gavin’s baby shower felt like stepping into the pages of a vintage storybook. Equal parts charming, tender, and timeless.
With a gentle nod to Peter Rabbit and layered in classic details, it was a celebration where every element from heirloom baby dishes to rocking horses and teddy bears whispered warmth, nostalgia, and love.
The color palette of soft yellows and greens set a perfect whimsical tone without being overly themed, and cozy without being overdone. Vintage baby dishes once belonging to Gavin’s mother contributed to the decor and brought her presence into the celebration in the most touching and thoughtful way. Other decor details like rocking horses, teddy bears, and sweet baby blocks added to the soft, classic aesthetic.
Stations invited guests to color alphabet pages and sign their names, all to be bound into Baby’s very first ABC book. Guests were also invited to choose pink or blue bows to pin on and wear their gender predictions. When I asked if Cat and Gavin knew the gender, they playfully replied, “No, but it’s a boy.”
The food was a showstopper in its own right. Flaky, buttery breakfast croissant sandwiches and tarts were served for lunch, followed by a dessert table that dreams are made of. Lemon bars, macarons, and a stunning tiered cake stood as beautiful as they were delicious.
This celebration enjoyed by such grateful parents and thrown by incredibly gracious hosts reminded me what a gift it is to celebrate every milestone. Your community is there to cheer for falling in love, growing your family – and all that falls in between and after. Celebrating often and well is both a privilege and a discipline.
