The bride began the day in a beautiful red and gold gown and she ended it in lacy white. She exchanged sparkly heels to equally appropriate white, sparkly tennies. Not many brides get the fun of two full and lovely looks, and even fewer get the experience of two full ceremonies.

Alex and Shawn started their day with a traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony and then moved to Union Station, where their wedding ceremony and reception took place. This was my first experience with a tea ceremony, and it was so lovely. Even the dog was arrayed in ornate traditional dress, and the home was filled with the aroma of plentiful good & fresh food. (Alex & Shawn insisted I try some before leaving and I can confirm it was as delicious as it smelled!). The bride and groom took turns honoring family members and receiving sweet words and blessings in return. Their guests watched and enjoyed all the best food before the wedding party hopped on a limo to their downtown Dallas venue.

Flowers framed the ceremony space and filled the ballroom of Union Station. Engagement portraits of the bride & groom lined the historic staircase, and the prettiest linens painted tables white, blush, and light blue. My favorite part was probably the cake table; a traditional white cake complete with florals, a Game of Thrones groom’s cake, another with the bride & groom’s dogs as toppers, and a display of the best macaroons anyone’s ever had. All the sweet treats sat under “The Tais” neon blue sign, labeling it the newlyweds’. Really you have to see the pictures to do it justice, but on how delicious the macaroons were, you’ll have to take my word.

I loved how unique the full day felt and how beautiful Union Station looked, but Alex & Shawn brought the party all by themselves. They are such a fun, silly, and easy to celebrate couple. Choosing a danceable dress for Alex was paramount, and seeing her on the floor with Shawn and all their friends, I totally understood why. They were a joy to document and kept me smiling and laughing behind the camera all day.

Alex & Shawn, thank you for letting me be a part of this amazing day. I can’t wait to share the video to show off even more of your personalities. It’s such an absolute honor to celebrate you.
